POETRY DEATH DOOM XTREME-6

Yarr maties! Time for some more more poetry. This go around I wanted to explore how another culture would view one of our modern age objects. Y-yes I've been found out, I do play video games. I love you, Reader.

Heretical Devices of Satanic Array
Kell Inkston
I open the next box of items procured from the dig site, but not before a brief prayer of protection over my weak, sinful heart.
The first object is small, just smaller than my hand, tablet-shaped and has a cool, glossy touch, as if it were made of some sort of obsidian glass. Its center is pitch black, I can only imagine what sort of sorceries are contained inside, for among the runes, one is still glowing, betraying some dark power held within. It is covered in markings of such unintelligible array, but under the glowing rune is the one symbol I can recognize, the ancient symbol of heretical power; an ancient  belief for a barbaric society. They believed they could contain and use demons to charge their horrific devices.
I cannot yet comprehend this object’s purpose, but I shudder to think what dark reasons they used it for.
Upon smelling and (tree forgive) tasting the object, I note nothing of interest, a typical trait for their sorceries. After feeling the tablet a bit, I find there is a small part of it that I can press into, and out pops what seems to be an insert of some sort. I jolt back, wait a moment in shock, and then gradually ease back to my seat. The cartridge, covered with more demonic runes, depicts what seems to be a man in red, leaping high over all sorts of unspeakable, deformed monstrosities.
I’m certain now, this device is used for casting spells. One of the ancient heathens would place their selected spell into the tablet, and use it as a medium for casting.
Tree forgive their unprecedented witchery.
I’m almost done before I place it in the burn pile, but its design is so peculiar, I can’t help but think I’m missing something.
By the vines, yes! There is a crack to the side, it seems as though it opens like a book! I will do this, and report my findings after five prayers to the great tree.
My final observations were steeped in horror. Upon opening the tome thought to be tablet, arcane runes of unbelievable satanry flashed before my eyes. I saw dozens of people trapped inside the singular, moving pages of the book’s ethereal void.
This is the most terrifying thing I’ve laid eyes on, after smashing the tablet into pieces, I quickly found a translator and he read the largest set of runes on the now-destroyed tome.
“Nintendo 3DS” he called it.

Tree save us from this evil.

Xtreme poetry death apocalypse-5

More for you, I hope you quite like poetry, Reader! It's time for a spooky poem, just in time for Hallo- ... oh wait, nevermind.

The Reach for the Knob
Kell Inkston
The night is late,
And for every hour past twelve, for young Kell of twelve,
Every moment is Halloween,
Every bump a thump,
And every cat a beast.

Television until two? Not really a problem,
That is, until he needs to go to bed.
The bed that is deep, far down the hall,
Submerged in the darkest of concealing shades.
Like a lake that you know a monster is swimming in.

“I’ll just stand up and get going,”
he thinks as he turns off the safety screen,
“I’ll just get it over with now, and get some rest.”
Just as his one light goes out, Halloween night has returned.
All objects exude fear, all corners containing the unknown.

He sneaks across the living room, to not wake any spirit,
And ascend up those creaky stairs,
As he watches for movement down there.
At the second floor now,
Almost to safety.

Kell scans the upper floor of his horror mansion,
Ensuring none of the paintings have changed,
No hairy figures were standing in those unlikely spots and that,
There wasn’t a single window creaked just open enough,
To let something in.

Almost there, he hears the house churning.
They were waiting for him to almost enter safety,
he grasps the knob, open it up, and leap into the blackness.

Much better- my room is so comfy when it’s dark.

Poetry Explosion Mania-4

And next on our list... A poem about complaining! . . . about a certain online game in particular.
Enjoy, and beware the wild north!

League of Legends
Kell Inkston
Let’s play a game online;
Where there is always an I in team,
Where kills take place over skills,
Where working together means to help tie the noose,
Where the inhibitor is always threatened,
And theirs is always safe
Where all of your friends are your enemies,
And all your enemies are natural disasters,
To be fled from, not fought against.

You and your four comrades,
Against the national champions.
Out of all the animals in the zoo,
You get to pick any one you want.

Make your choice:
Will you go in solo, and be matched with monkeys,
Or invite some sloths you know
Either way, the result is the same:
Your inhibitor has been destroyed!-
You have been slain!-
Did you stay in your lane?
Your fault.
Did you leave your lane?
Your fault.
Out of the ten people in the game at the moment,
You are the one that is called out by that 16 year old Brazilian.
Can we just be competitive in our minds-
With tactics, timing, teamwork,
Rather than in our hearts-
With egos, self-security and penis comparisons?

“IT’S A GAME YOU BITCH! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO WIN!”
It’s a game, you poor, random person from across the waves. You’re supposed to have fun.

I long await the day, when M.O.B.A. will stand for:
Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, as it should, rather than

Multitudes of Babies Always.

Kell Stinkston Goety Blam-3

To all of you who have not frozen to death yet in the cold, star-white winter, here's my next poem for you. Please enjoy!

Kell Inkston

I started cutting at a tree called childhood today.
Got my pa’s hatchet and started wiling my time away.
I get through the bark and it hurts like hell.
I never thought I’d feel this much.

I wanted to see how tall it would grow-
When I was a kid that didn’t know,
That what is weed and what is tree,
Is quite alike to human eyes.

I hit it the first time through the flesh and skin.
I smell the sweet weedliness that men
Older than I am say I shouldn’t have.
I should have gotten rid of it long ago.

I wonder though at times like these,
Times when young men chop down trees,
Whether or not the weed’s been a tree the whole time.
Maybe it’s been just the way it’s supposed to be.

                I quit cutting halfway through.
Left enough bark for it to live its life.
Perhaps they’ve been wrong all this time.

And the tree they said was a weed, was a tree indeed.

poetry slam: Kell Inkston edition- 2

Hello everyone, I hope you're all staying warm in the icy darkness sweeping across the Northern Hemisphere. Get a beverage and enjoy this probably-depressing poem.

The Book of Imagination
Kell Inkston

I opened the book of imagination today,
Let’s see what I can find.
Look for truth and lies and silver,
Put to rest the yearning mind.

I turned through the pages today,
Hope I find a good world.
See dragons and ships a plenty,
                As the ideas come unfurled.

I got to the end today,
                Didn’t find much of use.
                Looks as though my imagination

Has run out with my muse.
